3 Skincare Myths That Just Suck

These sound smart, but in reality are sabotaging your skin (and wallet).

“Dermatologist-Approved”

Brands just need one derm to say “ok” to put it on a label.

“Perfect Skin”

Skin fluctuates daily and hour to hour. There is no such thing in skincare.

“Trending on TikTok”

Vanity claim. Most often thanks to a fat marketing budget, not actual results.

Skincare was never supposed to be a short form habitat

Fast dopamine and pretty faces have their way of drawing in an audience – especially those that might not yet have started to understand of their unique skin context. It is only through committing yourself to a period of learning and actually understanding your unique skin (and lifestyle) context that you can have good skin.

Once you do understand it, you won’t depend on products alone as temporary fixes, but as something that supplements every other lever of great skin health.

ABOUT ME

Who’s Behind That K Glow?

My brand is faceless, not soulless. Hi there.

Not a dermatologist. Not a beauty guru. Just someone who spent years inside the skincare industry – and saw more than enough BS to last two lifetimes.
I used to lead branding for a K-beauty company in the heart of Seoul. And before that I worked alongside some of the biggest names in the industry.
From overpriced formulas to fear-based marketing and influencer manipulation, I saw how the industry pushes skinxiety, plays on insecurity, and convinces people to chase a manufactured ideal instead of actual skin health.
After over a decade as both an insider and a skincare obsessive, I decided to break the fourth wall and build something honest.
No filters (my brand is faceless) or fear tactics. Just real insight on what actually helps your skin, and what’s hype. You might’ve come across my zero-filter rants through social platforms. Either way, happy to have you here.
This blog isn’t here to sell you a miracle product.
It’s here to help you understand how skincare really works – so you can stop wasting money, protect your skin, and make choices that serve you.
If you’ve ever felt like the beauty industry is playing you…
You’re not wrong. And you’re not alone.
